Summer Jubilee Sew Along Week 5 from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Quilters!

Welcome to week 5 of the Summer Jubilee Sew Along!

We are almost to the finish line.  By now, you have made all of the blocks, and now it is time to assemble your quilt top!

This will be an easy and fun week.

If you didn't press your blocks as you were making them, now is the time to do that.  Pressed blocks sew together better.

I recommend pressing the seams open as indicated in the pattern, but if you press your seams to the side, you can get flatter seams by placing the blocks under ...

These blocks may feel complicated, but they consist of blocks you are probably already really familiar with:  half square triangles (HSTs) and Flying Geese (FGs).

The HSTs are made 8 at a time, and the FGs are made 4 at a time so you can create the units ...

The 2021 Quiltmas Spectacular from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Quiltmas 2021_ Blog Header

To paraphrase Buddy the Elf, “The best way to spread Quiltmas cheer is quilting loud for all to hear." And while we may have just shared our last of the daily blocks for Quiltmas 2021, that just means that now we have time to catch up on our Quiltmas quilting!

Not familiar with Quiltmas? It’s a fun kickoff to the holiday season, like a shortened advent calendar, where every day from December 1st through the 12th a new festive quilt block is delivered to your inbox. And the best part is that each block is designed by a different ...

Hi, Makers!

The holidays are around the corner and it’s that time of the year where we makers really shine! Today, I would love to talk about something a little different, deeper than just sewing, and it’s about the wonderful gift of giving. What it really means to make something with your heart and hands and give them to the people you love and appreciate. Last year was a very difficult one, due to the pandemic affecting every one of us. Most of us couldn’t spend holidays at home with our families as some are sick and ...

If you’re anything like us, your Christmas list is filled with handmade holiday projects that you may or may not have started (don’t panic just yet, there’s still plenty of time). Quick Tree Skirt Pattern by Julia Deal from Quiltwoman Blog

Despite the initial geometry used in development, the Modern Spiral Tree Skirt (SEW-104) was the most fun of any pattern I’ve written, and it came together in record time thanks to the mathematical assistance of my college age son. We collaborated on the trigonometry via text during his freshman year at RIT.

I was determined to design a wedged tree skirt that tessellated easily into a circle, yet didn’t waste lots of fabric. I also was hoping to utilize fat quarters since I had a stack of Christmas holiday fat quarters on hand.

For about a week my ...

A Look Inside BLOCK Magazine: Winter 2019 from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

“Great stories happen to those who can tell them.” -Ira Glass

A Note From Jenny Doan, BLOCK Magazine Winter Issue 2019

After the winter holidays, I like to write down the moments that made me smile. Like the care that went into a handmade gift from a grandchild, the friendly chatter around the family dinner table, and the sweet older lady who talked to me at the post office. Every day there’s something to remind me there is good in this world. These little moments make up each day and when I stop to appreciate them, it changes my perspective, and ultimately, my life.

Our lives are composed of ...
